Job Summary
Special Education SETSS Teacher responsible for specially designed/supplemental instruction to support a student with a disability in the general education classroom, consulting with the general education teacher, delivering push-in or pull-out services as appropriate, and implementing a music-infused curriculum with collaboration from music and curriculum directors. Responsibilities include differentiating instruction to meet diverse learner needs, data-driven planning to improve outcomes, participating in Child Study Team assessments, and fostering a joyful, inclusive culture while engaging students in project-based, Common Core-aligned learning; required NYS SPED certification and urban elementary teaching experience; strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills; preferred ABA, bilingual, and other specialized trainings; full-time position at WHIN Music Community Charter School in New York, NY.
Required Qualifications
- NYS or equivalent Special Education Teaching Certification
- Urban elementary teaching experience
- Demonstrated success raising achievement levels of all students
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills: the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
- A big heart and compassion for students who are in need of social, emotional, and academic support
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic, and exciting school
- A sense of humor and kindness towards colleagues
- Advanced proficiency in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred: Bilingual (Spanish); Music performance; ABA and/or Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Program training; Early Childhood teaching experience and/or certifications; Project Based Learning and Inquiry Based Learning; Responsive Classroom, Love & Logic Student Management, and Restorative Justice models
