Job Summary
Instruct students with learning disabilities, mild intellectual disabilities, or emotional behavioral disorders using lectures, discussions, and visual aids. Prepare lesson outlines and administer formal and informal assessments to monitor comprehension. Maintain classroom order during lunch and throughout the school day while performing administrative duties such as taking attendance and recording grades. Coordinate parent-teacher conferences to review student performance and behavior. Report in person to the school building for face-to-face instruction, adapting to changing district needs and supporting both in-person and remote learners. Attend faculty meetings and training sessions as required.
Required Qualifications
- Georgia Professional Standards Commission issued Standard Renewable, Performance-Based Renewable, or Induction teaching certificate at a level 4 (bachelor's degree level) or higher in Special Education General Curriculum P-12
- Eligibility for a Georgia Professional Standards Commission Provisional teaching certificate based on Bachelor's degree and completion of the GACE Ethics Program Entry Assessment (test code 350)
- Bachelor's Degree
- Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods
- Ability to tolerate exposure to noisy conditions
- Ability to be understood in face-to-face communications, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer
- Ability to use hands to grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head
- Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis

- Ability to create and maintain a climate that promotes respect, tolerance, and peaceful problem solving for all students
- Ability to teach Interrelated courses
