Job Summary
Plan and teach a social studies program of study aligned with Texas Education Agency mandates, developing lesson plans that address diverse learning styles. Diagnose student needs, administer assessments, and provide immediate feedback while implementing modifications for students under IEP, 504, and RtI guidelines. Manage classroom behavior, maintain an inviting learning environment, and collaborate with special education staff to support struggling students. Establish professional relationships with parents, colleagues, and administrators, and participate in faculty meetings and staff committees. Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities and sponsor outside activities. Perform other duties as assigned, including directing instructional aides.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned
- Current ESL Certification
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Gifted Teachers must have 30 hours of gifted approved hours required
- Knowledge of subject matter in assigned position
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Completion of student teaching or approved internship
- Maintain an acceptable attendance rate – 94% annually (excluding approved leaves and emergencies)
- Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
