Job Summary
Secondary Teacher – ELL/Bilingual delivers English Language Development aligned with Oklahoma State Department of Education standards; develops individualized and small-group instruction, creates lesson plans, and prepares Language Instruction Education Plans (LIEP) for ELLs. Responsibilities include teaching ELD, applying WIDA standards, maintaining student records, communicating with parents, and participating in school improvement initiatives; requires strong knowledge of SIOP/SDAIE, cultural responsiveness, and ability to manage a classroom and assess student progress. Location: Mary Golda Ross Middle School; full-time exempt position with standard school-year calendar and potential for alternative work-site arrangements as determined by the district.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in education or a related field required
- Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Secondary Education required
- Bilingual/Multicultural; English as a second language strongly preferred; ESL certification pathway described
- Master’s degree in TESOL preferred
- Demonstrable knowledge/background in Sheltered Instruction (SIOP/SDAIE) and Second Language Acquisition
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, follow state and district guidelines
