Job Summary

Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and Texas Education Agency guidelines while accommodating individual student needs. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing to guide instructional activities. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and create a classroom environment conducive to learning. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula per Individual Education Plans and direct the work of assigned instructional aides. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside programs. Establish professional relationships with parents, students, and community members while participating in staff development and faculty meetings. Comply with all state, district, and school regulations and policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
  • Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Master degree in content preferred
