Job Summary
Guiding and assisting teacher in the full and ongoing implementation of District literacy initiatives and programs; coordinating with Buffalo City Schools administration and building principals; collaborating with teachers and principals on explicit, systematic instructional strategies aligned to the Common Core; guiding the district writing initiative at the building level; administering and analyzing literacy screening and diagnostic measures; facilitating ELA state assessments; monitoring interventions for students reading/writing below grade level; reviewing diagnostic and progress-monitoring data to determine interventions and program modifications; assisting in action plan development and implementation based on data; providing professional development for teachers at grade-level meetings and district events; modeling district literacy initiatives in classrooms; attending district professional development for coaches; participating in MTSS and building/District teams; appointment processed as a temporary assignment for a three-year cycle; salary determined by the Teachers’ salary schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- New York State certification that covers grades K-6 in Reading/Literacy, Elementary Education, TESOL or Special Education
- three years of teaching/coaching experience in an urban setting
