Job Summary
Prep ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items while safely operating equipment such as ovens, stoves, steamers, slicers, choppers, mixers, dishwashers, and other food service machinery. Assist the cook with a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes, then arrange, garnish, and portion items per established protocols. Properly store food adhering to safety policies, clean and sanitize work areas and equipment, and assist with serving during two lunch periods. Work 25–30 hours weekly for 10 months between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. with physical demands including lifting up to 25 lbs. and extended standing.
Required Qualifications
- 1 year of related experience and/or training
- Must have Food Handler Certification
- Must be able to acquire food safety certification
- Must work well in a team setting and assist others as needed
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs
- Must be able to bend
- Must be able to push
- Must be able to pull
- Must be able to walk
- Must be able to stand
- Must be able to wear uniforms
- Must be able to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a food prep, cook or in a related role
- Knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
- Knowledge of special dietary requirements
- Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
- Demonstrate interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
- Committed to serving as a role model for students
- Flexible with time as there may be special events when extra assistance may be required
