Job Summary
Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program serving PreK-12 students, dedicating at least 60% of time to individual and group counseling. Provide educational planning, course selection guidance, and transitional support for students entering the school. Deliver workshops for parents and in-service training for teachers to foster academic and personal/social growth. Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness while making referrals to community services. Coordinate student registration and participate in faculty committees to maintain a positive learning climate. Maintain accurate records and model nondiscriminatory practices throughout all activities.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in education or a related field
- meet the Virginia Department of Education guidelines for School Counselor
- be eligible or possess Virginia Collegiate Professional License or Postgraduate Professional License with School Counselor endorsement
- possess ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public
