Job Summary
Develops and implements a comprehensive school counseling program to serve the needs of all PreK-12 students while functioning as a member of the multidisciplinary team. Provides individual and group counseling, ensuring at least 60% of time is devoted to direct student support, and delivers workshops for parents and in-service training for teachers and administrators. Collects and analyzes data to evaluate program effectiveness, coordinates student registration and transitions, and initiates career awareness activities. Makes referrals to community services and maintains accurate records while modeling nondiscriminatory practices in all interactions. Requires a Master's degree and Virginia School Counselor license.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in education or a related field
- meet the Virginia Department of Education guidelines for School Counselor
- be eligible or possess Virginia Collegiate Professional License or Postgraduate Professional License with School Counselor endorsement
- possess ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public
