Job Summary
Support the academic, career, and social-emotional development of all students through a comprehensive counseling program. Provide individual and group counseling, academic advising, crisis intervention, and college and career planning while collaborating with students, families, teachers, and administrators. Remove barriers to learning and foster a positive, safe, and inclusive environment by utilizing Google Drive and maintaining expertise in educational technology. Create and maintain an inclusive learning environment that respects diverse backgrounds, communicating effectively with parents and teachers to promote student success. Demonstrate dependability and punctuality in fulfilling these essential functions.
Required Qualifications
- Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Department of Education license with appropriate endorsement as a school counselor, PreK-12 or equivalent
- Hold a master's degree in counseling with an emphasis in school counseling
- Demonstrate an ability to support students by cooperatively working with school administrators, parents/guardians, and teachers
- Utilize Google Drive and possess expertise in using technology in education
- Create and maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all students
- Communicate effectively with strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families
- Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment
- Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities
