[2026-2027] Recess Coach - East Harlem Elementary and Middle School

Recess Coach at DREAM’s East Harlem elementary and middle schools. Responsibilities include supervising up to 18-20 youth during recess (grades K-8), planning indoor and outdoor activities, facilitating various outdoor activities to promote moderate to vigorous physical activity, modeling and encouraging positive participation, and maintaining professionalism through consistent attendance and preparation. The role involves supervising youth behavior using positive youth development strategies, tracking incidents, coordinating with supervisors and staff, and implementing all health and safety protocols. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, familiarity with sport or physical activity as participant or coach, willingness to work outdoors in cold or hot weather, minimum of 1 year working with groups of 20 school-age children in a youth development setting, strong communication with stakeholders (students, administrators, staff), and preferred experience with behavior management systems and training in physical education. Start date August 10, 2026; end date June 17, 2027; days and hours are Monday-Thursday, 10:30am-1:30pm; location East Harlem, 1991 2nd Avenue, New York, NY 10029. Compensation ranges around $17.50-$18.00 per hour depending on experience.
