Job Summary
Facilitate instruction for at-risk LEP migrant students by working directly with classroom teachers, maintaining regular contact with school-based ESL staff, and providing progress updates. Assist in preparing materials, implementing the planned program, and reinforcing learning as directed. Operate educational equipment including computers and projectors while gathering, analyzing, and conveying data to support student goals. Demonstrate content knowledge well above the necessary level to encourage learning, communicate effectively in English and Spanish, and apply critical thinking to solve problems. Perform all other duties as assigned under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish
- Graduation from high school
- Possession of an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position
- Those qualifications required under the provisions of No Child Left Behind
- Associate's Degree
- Completion of 48 semester hours of college credits
- Successful completion of a series of Work Keys assessments plus earn 96 contact hours of appropriate staff development
