2026-2027 Middle School Science and Social Studies Instructional Coach

Job Summary

Lead implementation of Next Generation Science Standards and Delaware Social Studies Standards while guiding development of 3-dimensional assessments and aligned instructional units. Deliver coaching cycles, lesson modeling, and feedback to teachers using walkthroughs and data protocols to drive instructional improvement. Facilitate professional learning communities and design high-quality professional development aligned to district initiatives. Analyze student data to identify trends and support instructional equity for multilingual learners and students with disabilities. Serve as the building's science lab safety liaison and manage hazardous waste compliance. Promote integration of blended learning and AI-enhanced instructional practices while coordinating with state workgroups and grant audits. Provide flexible on-site support across buildings and maintain communication with teacher leaders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with Delaware certification in Secondary Science
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful middle or high school teaching experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in science pedagogy, civic learning, and instructional leadership
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and lead adult professional learning
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills
  • Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Tuberculin Test and physical
  • Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck
  • Summer hours scheduled based on availability, funding, and district priorities

Desired Qualifications

  • Certification or experience in Secondary Social Studies
  • Master's degree preferred (Instructional Leadership, Curriculum, or related field)
