Job Summary
Mental Health Technician provides direct client care in a school setting, delivering trauma-attuned interventions and crisis de-escalation for students aged 5-18. Works with ESS/classroom multidisciplinary teams to support classroom management, daily schedules, and student activities; conducts in-classroom social-emotional counseling, documents observations, and maintains confidentiality. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field and 2+ years of mental health experience with children/adolescents; experience with crisis management and continuum of care is strongly preferred. The role emphasizes collaboration with school leadership, teachers, paraprofessionals, families, and community health/social services agencies to promote academic and mental health stability. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field
- 2+ years of experience working in a mental health setting, preferably with children and adolescents ages 5-18
- Experience and knowledge of mental illness treatment with highly acute children and adolescents and continuum of care (crisis management experience strongly preferred)
- Effective problem solving and communication skills
- Experience working with students and families, as well as community health and social services agencies
