Job Summary
ISS Aide at McNabb Middle School: Supervise students assigned to in-school suspension (ISS) and maintain a highly structured environment under the supervision of the principal and a certified teacher. Provide instructional support, work with the classroom teacher to create and maintain an orderly setting, assist individual students with assignments, and communicate with campus administrators. Maintain confidentiality, follow district safety procedures, participate in staff development, and manage student behavior in accordance with board policies and IEPs. Requires strong ability to work with children, follow verbal/written instructions, and use a computer; ESSA Title I Part A context noted. No supervisory responsibilities. Office and classroom duties inside the school building with potential outside exposure; physical demands include standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Educational Aide III certification
- Three years experience as classroom aide or 30 semester hours of college credit with emphasis on child growth and development
- Valid educational aide III certification**
- An Educational Aide III certificate is required for aides assigned to a setting where students grades 9–12 are assigned for less than six weeks. A valid Texas teaching certificate is required when students grades 9–12 are assigned more than six weeks.
