Job Summary
Assist in facilitating communication between deaf/hard of hearing students and hearing staff and students by using sign language appropriate for learning level; adapt language and materials to meet the needs of deaf/hard of hearing students; provide tutoring for academic classes and lessons; communicates with parents/guardians about interpreting services; works with education team to support student learning; supports three weeks of ESY in summer; 181 instructional days plus ESY; requires ASL/Interpreting proficiency and Educational Interpreter Authorization; duties include interpreting, tutoring, monitoring behavior, and collaboration with teachers and counselors.
Required Qualifications
- AA in ASL/Interpreting or equivalent
- Colorado Department of Education Educational Interpreter Authorization or eligibility to obtain by start date
- Ability to communicate in various signing systems: Exact English, Signed English, American Sign Language, finger spelling, and silent mouthing
