Job Summary
Substitute for campus nurses to conduct initial assessments of students with health impairments and assist with clinic processes. Mentor new health services staff by delivering training on curriculum materials, campus procedures, and CPR/AED protocols. Act as a liaison between schools and the district Health Services Coordinator to address health issues, accidents, and safety concerns. Evaluate program effectiveness, audit compliance, and report potential hazards. Maintain professional skills per Texas Nurse Practice Act while managing frequent interruptions and physical demands.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid registered nurse (RN) or advance practice RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing
- Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)/AED
- Three-Five (3-5) years of experience in public health nursing, community agency, hospital out-patient clinic or pediatrics
- Three (3) years of experience in school nursing
- Ability to implement policies and procedures
- Knowledge of school health and nursing administration
- Knowledge of community medical and healthcare services
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Maintain professional nursing skills and knowledge as required by the Texas Nurse Practice Act and the Texas Board of Nursing including certification for mandated screenings and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (CPR/AED)
