Job Summary
Instruct students from Freshman through Senior levels in Honors Biology, AP Chemistry, and Physics while creating lesson plans, assigning homework, and managing classroom discipline. Demonstrate knowledge of the prescribed curriculum and educational research to address diverse learning styles and achieve measurable outcomes. Organize daily class time, develop weekly lessons with appropriate materials, and provide detailed substitute plans. Maintain fair and accurate grading policies, promptly score assessments, and evaluate student progress through tests and report cards. Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding schedules, assignments, and individual needs, including participation in parent-teacher conferences. Adhere to school and Diocese policies, attend in-service training, and collaborate with staff on instructional goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Science or related field
- PA teaching certification
- Previous experience working with children
- An understanding of child development and the skills necessary to relate to the students being taught
- The ability to handle classroom situations with fairness and patience
- Good writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students and teachers
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, a high degree of credibility, integrity, and self-confidence
- Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History
- Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check
- Attendance at the online Protecting God's Children class
- Mandated Reporter Training
- Respect for the teachings and discipline of the Church regarding matters of faith and morals
- Maintaining a lifestyle that is in conformity with the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Ability to teach at grade levels from Freshman through Senior
- Course load will include Honors Biology, AP Chemistry, and all levels of Physics
- Demonstrates knowledge of the prescribed curriculum, current educational research, and technological tools
- Ability to establish and maintain appropriate student supervision
- Ability to organize daily class time so that instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time
- Ability to develop weekly lessons with the appropriate instructional materials
- Ability to provide appropriate, detailed instructions/plans for a substitute teacher
- Ability to maintain fair, accurate, and timely grading policies, procedures, and attendance
- Ability to regularly check email and update web pages as required through the technology system
- Ability to communicate with students and parents regularly about schedules, assignments, events, and individual student needs
- Ability to meet with parents during parent-teacher conferences throughout the school year
- Ability to evaluate each student's progress in their knowledge and lessons
- Ability to keep appropriate records
- Ability to prepare, administer, score, and record results of tests in evaluating student progress
- Ability to prepare progress reports and report cards
- Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters including social media and online platforms
- Ability to follow all Bethlehem Catholic High School and Allentown Diocese policies as per the teacher's handbook
- Ability to maintain and engage in professional growth
- Ability to adhere to professional standards
- Ability to demonstrate professional ethics, sound judgment, and leadership
- Ability to cooperate and collaborate with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods
- Ability to attend all required in-service training meetings and workshops
- Ability to attend and participate in faculty meetings
- Ability to perform other duties assigned by the Principal
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and stoop
- Ability to talk and hear, both in person and by telephone
- Ability to use hands to perform standard classroom duties and use office equipment
- Ability to reach and lift up to 10 pounds

Desired Qualifications
