Job Summary
Plan the assigned athletic programs and organize, supervise practices, and teach fundamental skills, team strategy, and game rules for various secondary school interscholastic sports. Promote sports within the schools and community while checking participant eligibility, insurance coverage, and parent consent. Provide students with a proper role model, emotional support, and guidance, conducting learning experiences with small groups of student athletes. Recommend equipment, supplies, and uniforms appropriate for student health, safety, and welfare. Ensure compliance with KHSAA guidelines, safety regulations, and first aid training requirements.
Required Qualifications
- high school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate
- minimum of 64 semester hours from an accredited college or university
- one year of experience coaching in a school athletic program
- Successful completion of any and all required training per board policy
- physical and emotional development of students training
- school's discipline policies training
- procedures for dealing with discipline problems training
- safety and first aid training
- CPR/AED certification
- a clear criminal records check
- follows all KHSAA guidelines and regulations
