Job Summary
Provide students with appropriate learning activities to fulfill their potential and develop competencies in English/language arts. Plan and teach a program aligned to TEA and district curricula for 2026-2027 at Elsik High School, including ESSENTIAL duties such as creating lesson plans, implementing instructional strategies, and using ARD/LPAC/504 guidelines. Maintain classroom management, assess student growth, administer state assessments, and collaborate with special education staff to support general and struggling learners. Communicate with parents and participate in meetings, district policies, and required professional development. Sponsor extracurricular activities as assigned. The position is a 187-day contract with a base salary around $66,500, and requires a valid Texas teaching certificate and ESL certification within two years.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned
- Current ESL Certification: ESL Certification required within (2) years of employment beginning with teachers hired in the 2010-2011 school year
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Gifted Teachers must have 30 hours of gifted approved hours required
- Experience: Completion of student teaching or approved internship
