Job Summary
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and Texas Education Agency guidelines while accommodating individual student differences. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing to inform instructional activities. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and create a classroom environment conducive to learning. Direct the work of assigned instructional aides and volunteers, overseeing their completion of assigned tasks. Establish professional relationships with parents, colleagues, and community members, and assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Comply with state and district regulations, attend faculty meetings, and participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
