Job Summary
Under direct supervision of a licensed teacher, provide supplemental practice for learning experiences, including drills and activities using effective strategies to reinforce or modify skills. Assist students with behavior management, de-escalation, conflict resolution, and adherence to behavioral expectations while maintaining discipline in the absence of the teacher. Deliver direct assistance to students in 1:1, small group, general education, and special education settings, including support for those with medically fragile needs. Collect, sort, and correct lessons and tests; record grades; file materials; and complete required district logs, forms, and paperwork. Perform first aid, evaluate injuries, and assist with student safety during bus/van travel. Adapt curriculum and instruction for English language learners and provide ongoing training to help students meet academic and behavioral expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree or higher
- Completion of two years post-secondary study consisting of 72 credit hours, 48 semester units
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, as appropriate, reading/language arts, writing and mathematics or reading readiness, writing readiness and mathematics readiness
- Ability to obtain and hold a valid First Aid/CPR card
- Pass Safe Schools training modules as assigned
