Job Summary
Support teachers with classroom instruction by providing one-on-one academic and behavioral assistance, monitoring student safety, and administering daily living skills such as feeding and toileting. Maintain standardized records, perform general housekeeping duties, and ensure compliance with special needs protocols and confidentiality regulations. Operate school buses on assigned routes, ensuring student safety during boarding and departure, while reporting mechanical defects and adhering to all traffic laws. Complete required transportation reports, attend safety meetings, and maintain positive relations with parents and school personnel. This medium-physical role involves lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and requires a current North Carolina commercial driver's license with proper endorsements.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school
- Associate's Degree
- Completion of 48 semester hours of college credits
- Successful completion of a series of WorkKeys assessments plus earn 96 contact hours of appropriate staff development
- At least eighteen (18) years old
- Six (6) months driving experience
- Possess or be willing to obtain a current North Carolina commercial driver's license with proper endorsements and a current Bus Drivers Pocket Card
- Pass a DOT drug and alcohol testing
- Never have been convicted of a DWI Offense
