Job Summary
Conduct daily building inspections, identify areas requiring action, and inform the Maintenance Supervisor immediately. Perform routine cleaning tasks including washing, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, and carpet care in accordance with established procedures. Open and secure buildings, manage supplies, assist with special event setups, and maintain equipment. Move materials and furniture as necessary while ensuring floors are properly cleaned, mopped, stripped, and waxed. Requires prompt, regular attendance during scheduled shifts at Atlanta Public Schools.
Required Qualifications
- Vision ability required to perform custodial duties
- Ability to tolerate exposure to noisy conditions
- Ability to be understood in face-to-face communications
- Ability to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a two-way radio or telephone
- Upper Body Mobility: Requires repeated reaching by extending hand(s) and/or arm(s) in any direction
- Climbing ladders or scaffolds
- Using equipment requiring high dexterity
- Ability to perceive object size, shape, temperature or texture by means of senses in your skin
- Moderate lifting or carrying 26-50 lbs. or less on a regular basis
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or basic written instructions
- Ability to learn and apply safety procedures and standards
- Required to have prompt, regular attendance for scheduled shifts during regular business hours
- Requires extensive safety training and/or protective devices
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
