Job Summary
Accept, store, monitor, and deliver approximately $450,000 in commodities annually while maintaining HACCP records and operating the Meal Plus Program POS system. Safely operate a forklift, coordinate product storage upon delivery, and sanitize freezers, coolers, and the warehouse storage area. Accurately complete and submit necessary reports, including the Daily Work Schedule, and assist in schools as directed by the Child Nutrition Executive Director. Perform heavy physical duties involving lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and working in hot, humid environments without air conditioning. Maintain high standards of personal cleanliness and follow all oral and written directives regarding food safety, sanitation, and equipment care.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Associates degree
- Valid TB test and health examination issued by the local county board of health or recognized medical authority
- At least eighteen (18) years old
- Six (6) months driving experience
- Current North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with proper endorsements
- Pass a DOT drug and alcohol testing
- Never been convicted of a DWI offense
- ServSafe or Safe Plate certification
- Basic computer and cashiering skills
- Must be able to stand for six continuous hours
- Must be able to stoop, squat, kneel and/or bend in a manner that allows the palms to touch the floor
- Must be able to bend from a standing position in a manner that allows the palms to touch the knees
- Must be able to bend from the waist in a standing position with arms outstretched for an extended period of time
- Must be able to twist, turn, and/or stretch from side to side that allows the shoulders to be perpendicular to the hips
- Must be able to lift, carry, and/or support 30 pounds from shoulder level to above the head
- Must be able to perform duties requiring non-repetitive motions with hands and wrists
- Must be able to work with caustic and non-caustic chemicals
- Must be able to work in very hot, humid environment (no air conditioning)
- Must be able to maintain high standards of personal cleanliness
- Must be able to read and follow recipes and adjust amounts as needed
- Must be able to read, write and utilize basic math skills (multiplication, division, fractions and decimals)
- Must be able to use or learn basic computer skills
- Must be able to obtain ServSafe certification or related sanitation certification
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to work without constant supervision
- Experience with the Meal Plus Program entering inventory and operating of the POS system
- Must be trained and safely operate a forklift
- Must be able to learn food preparation, serving and clean-up procedures
- Must be able to learn sound sanitation principles
- Must be able to learn foods, equipment and techniques used in food preparation, service and clean-up
