Job Summary
Supervise students boarding and exiting buses, ensuring they follow safety procedures and cross streets correctly. Manage student behavior, report discipline issues, and adapt to individual medical, physical, and emotional needs. Secure specialized equipment and assist with loading/unloading students, including lifting up to 50 pounds daily. Operate safety devices like seat belts and harnesses, and maintain readiness for emergency procedures, evacuations, and first aid administration. Escort students to their assigned destinations while maintaining civil relationships with parents and district personnel. Work 90% outside in extreme temperatures, performing physical labor and following district safety protocols. Maintain regular attendance over 177 calendar days.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, drivers, parents, and teachers
- Willing to work with differently-abled students and understand their specific challenges and solutions required
- Ability to perform physical labor or operate equipment
- Must pass a Physical Performance Evaluation
- Ability to understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions
- Ability to operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment
- Ability to manage student behavior
- Ability to lift and carry students with special needs
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a daily basis
- Ability to tolerate confined spaces
- Ability to tolerate slippery, hard or uneven walking surfaces
- Ability to tolerate extreme hot and cold temperatures (70o – 1100F)
- Ability to work around machinery with moving parts
- Ability to work irregular hours
- Ability to work occasional prolonged hours
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
