Job Summary
ARAC tutors provide one-on-one and/or small-group instruction to K-8 students in Macon-Bibb County; they control their schedules each semester by selecting preferred afterschool programs and tutoring times; responsibilities include attending tutoring sessions and trainings, updating accountability logs and timesheets in Canvas, Workday, and BearPulse, and participating in follow-up and evaluation activities; ideal candidates possess a civic mindset, willingness to discuss cultural competency and equity topics, and prior mentoring/tutoring experience is preferred but not required. Pay is $16.00-$17.00/hour, with schedule from 3:30-6 pm for a minimum of two hours per week and up to 20 hours per week; start and end dates are 08/31/2026 to 06/30/2027; background-check requirement and I-9 compliance apply.
Required Qualifications
- Must be an enrolled Mercer student with a federal work-study award
- Must be available to tutor during the school day or after school (3:30-6 pm) for a minimum of two hours per week and a maximum of 20 hours per week
- Must be able to pass a background check for the Bibb County School District or nonprofit partner
