Job Summary
Plan and teach a 5th-grade mathematics program aligned with Texas Education Agency mandates, developing lesson plans that incorporate diverse instructional strategies and technology. Diagnose student learning needs, administer state assessments, and provide small group instruction to support intellectual and social growth. Implement accommodations for students with special education services under IEPs, Section 504, and RtI guidelines while collaborating with special education staff. Manage classroom behavior, maintain an inviting learning environment, and compile all required student records and progress reports. Confer regularly with parents, administrators, and colleagues to foster professional relationships and support student development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned
- Current ESL Certification
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Gifted Teachers must have 30 hours of gifted approved hours required
- Knowledge of subject matter in assigned position
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Completion of student teaching or approved internship
- Maintain an acceptable attendance rate – 94% annually (excluding approved leaves and emergencies)
- Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
