Job Summary
Provide students with learning activities to develop intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth; teach 2nd grade math and science at Outley Elementary; plan and implement TEA-aligned instruction; administer and coordinate with ARD/LPAC/504/RtI; collaborate with parents, colleagues, and administrators; manage classroom using effective behavior strategies; foster professional development and adhere to district policies; sponsor extracurricular activities; probationary contract for 187 days with applicable stipends; salary schedule begins at $66,500.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned
- Current ESL Certification: ESL Certification required within (2) years of employment beginning with teachers hired in the 2010-2011 school year
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Gifted Teachers must have 30 hours of gifted approved hours required
- Completion of student teaching or approved internship
- Plan and teach a program of study in accordance with the Texas Education Agency (TEA), district mandates and curricula
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill TEA and district requirements
- Use instructional strategies and assessments per ARD/LPAC/504/RtI as applicable
- Collaborate with special education teachers and interventionists
- Assess student growth and administer state assessments as appropriate
- Sponsor extracurricular activities as assigned
- Maintain professional relationships with parents, students, colleagues, and administrators
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Participate in professional development and district committees
- Probationary contract – 187 days plus professional development for a teacher new to the district
- Salary is based on 187 days
- Minimum teacher salary is $66,500 (base $64,100 + $2,400 Teacher Retention Allotment)
