Job Summary
Teach 1st grade and provide learning activities and experiences to support students’ intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Plan and teach a program of study aligned to TEA and district curricula; develop and implement lesson plans with varied instructional strategies; use ARD/LPAC/504/RtI processes to modify and accommodate instruction; collaborate with special education staff to support all learners; assess student growth, provide feedback and progress reports, and administer state assessments as appropriate; maintain professional relationships with parents, students, colleagues, and administrators; participate in meetings and documentation for student admissions, progress, and dismissal; comply with district, state, and federal laws and policies; manage classroom behavior and create a safe, inclusive learning environment; participate in professional development and district initiatives; supervise extracurricular activities as assigned; follow district safety protocols and use technology effectively; position is a probationary contract for 187 days with Alief ISD, with a base salary of $66,500 for the 2025-2026 school year; located in Houston, TX.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned
- Current ESL Certification: ESL Certification required within (2) years of employment beginning with teachers hired in the 2010-2011 school year
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Gifted Teachers must have 30 hours of gifted approved hours required
- Completion of student teaching or approved internship
