Job Summary
Custodian for the 3:00pm–11:30pm shift at Komachin Middle School. Responsibilities include cleaning functions (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, refinishing floors, cleaning restrooms, dusting/polishing furniture, washing windows, disposing of rubbish, changing lights), basic maintenance and minor repairs, and assisting teachers with setup and maintenance of furniture/equipment. Supports campus security and safety following district, OSHA, and safety procedures. Initiates maintenance service requests, maintains supplies/inventory, and helps uphold energy conservation. Requires First Aid and CPR/defibrillator training; apprenticeship or equivalent in a trade/craft; valid WA driver’s license; ability to work with a diverse school community. This is a union, non-exempt, full-time position with a schedule of 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, 260 days/year. Internal applicants only; location is assigned to the district building in Lacey, WA.
Required Qualifications
- Completed apprenticeship or the equivalent within the specific trade/craft area
- Must be trained in First Aid
- CPR and defibrillator training may be required
- Valid Washington State driver’s license and ability to operate district-owned vehicles
- Ability to communicate with diverse populations
- Knowledge of state and local codes related to trade/craft (as applicable)
- Experience with maintenance/repair and cleaning in school environment (as indicated)
