Job Summary
Provide quality care and supervision for children throughout the day while maintaining a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Create engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that encourage exploration, creativity, and growth, adapting to individual needs based on observed progress. Establish positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues by communicating regularly about development and daily experiences. Model high-quality teaching practices, participate in staff meetings and professional development, and ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and YMCA policies. Maintain required documentation, respond to incidents and emergencies, and assist families in feeling connected to the community. Full-time role with $2,000 sign-on bonus paid in installments; candidates must meet state licensing requirements and hold current CPR/First Aid certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Must meet all qualifications established by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) or the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)
- Demonstrated knowledge of child growth and development, with the ability to apply developmentally appropriate practices when working with children
- Must complete the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care or New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services fingerprinting requirements before the first day of employment
- Must complete all required training, certifications, and program orientation in accordance with EEC or NH DHHS regulations and YMCA of the North Shore requirements
- Must maintain current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certifications
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to lift, bend, twist, reach, and move throughout the day as needed to perform job responsibilities
- Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to the unpredictable actions and needs of children
- Must be able to actively supervise children and participate in classroom and outdoor activities throughout the day
