Job Summary
Monitor student safety during recess and lunch, managing behavior, dismissal, and food distribution while assisting with daily lunch counts and attendance records. Support classroom instruction by preparing materials, help in the media center, and address basic health concerns and medicine distribution. Notify teachers or administrators of any potential injuries or problems immediately. Maintain confidentiality of student records and adhere to the negotiated agreement for Paraeducators. Work 175 contract days under the supervision of the building principal, classroom teacher, or designated staff to enhance student learning and promote school system efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- AA Degree or BA degree, or Para certification
- Ability to use office equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children preferred but not required
- Post-secondary coursework in educational field preferred but not required
- Initiative to be a self-starter
- Intuitive to the needs of the student
- Ability to work well with classroom teacher, support staff, administrators, AEA and parents of student as part of an educational team
- Ability to be flexible in assignments given
- Ability to use good judgment when unexpected problems arise
