Job Summary
Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators. Select metals and alloys based on hardness and heat tolerance, then set up and operate conventional machine tools to cut, bore, grind, or shape parts. Study blueprints to plan fabrication sequences, machine and assemble progressive dies, and conduct test runs to ensure production parts meet specifications. Fit and assemble parts for die repairs or modifications while inspecting finished dies for smoothness and contour conformity. Adhere to ISO/IATF, safety, and environmental procedures, maintaining a clean work area and stopping production if quality standards are not met. Requires 5 years of experience fabricating dies and the ability to lift 50 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent
- at least 5 years of experience fabricating dies for automated or other related equipment
- Experience utilizing a press fit, slip fit and tolerance
- Ability to use lathes, milling machine, grinders, drill machine, gauge blocks, dial indicators, calipers, and micrometers
- Experience working with a broad range of materials including tool steel, Teflon, aluminum, etc.
- Ability to use lathes, milling machine, grinders, drill machine, gauge blocks, dial indicators, calipers, and micrometers
- understanding of the impacts of heat treat prior to grinding
- Ability to apply basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
