Job Summary
Assemble units per blueprint, set up and run automatic welding machines, and weld components manually using MIG and TIG processes. Position and secure work pieces with hoists, weld using positioners/turntables, and inspect products for defects. Adjust machines for varying material thicknesses and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions while interpreting blueprints and measurements. Complete a weld test to D1.2 AWS standards. Work the 1st shift (5:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) at the Racine location, standing for 8–12 hours and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficient in GMAW (gas metal arc welding) and GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding)
- Ability to interpret blueprints and measurements
- Capable of adjusting machines to different material thickness
- Ability to self-manage with a diverse workload
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8–12 hours per shift)
- Frequent walking throughout the production floor
- Regularly lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds
- Occasionally lift heavier items (up to 75 pounds) with assistance or equipment
- Use of manual or mechanical means to push/pull carts, equipment, or materials
- Frequent use of hands and wrists for repetitive tasks (e.g., assembling, sorting, packaging)
- Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to handle small parts or tools
- Occasional use of ladders or steps to reach equipment or storage areas
- Sufficient vision (with or without correction) to read labels, safety signs, and equipment gauges
- Adequate hearing (with or without aids) to respond to alarms and verbal instructions in a noisy environment
- Ability to work in varying temperatures (hot, cold, or humid conditions)
- Exposure to noise, dust, odors, and manufacturing chemicals
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Qualified candidates will be asked to complete a weld test to D1.2 AWS (American Welding Society, Structural Welding Code - Aluminum)
Desired Qualifications
- Welding certification from an accredited Technical School preferred
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Mechanical aptitude and a functional knowledge of hand tools
