Job Summary
1st Shift Production Supervisor oversees the production operation on the day shift, coordinates with maintenance, QA, distribution, and warehousing to ensure efficient, compliant, cost-conscious production with minimal downtime. Responsible for safety orientation and training, adherence to GMP/HACCP and sanitation requirements, monitoring equipment and production data, maintaining budgets/staffing levels, and fostering morale. Leads setup, scheduling, and personnel management, including timecards, training of new hires, and coordination with HR. Maintains relationships with inspectors and ensures implementation of food safety, legality, and quality policies. Requires reading technical documents, effective communication across management levels, and ability to manage multiple tasks and use computing tools.
Required Qualifications
- Prior proven experience in a food processing, packaging, and filling operations
- Ability to read and understand documents, drawings, and instructions
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and to apply concepts to practical situations
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and coworkers
- Ability to perform several tasks at once
- Ability to follow direction or instruction
- Ability to use a computer to communicate, create, and access information
- Thorough knowledge of equipment and workmanship of equipment (including set-up, simple maintenance of and running of equipment)
- Working knowledge of Human Resources principles
