Job Summary
Operate assigned packaging machinery to meet customer specifications while maintaining area, equipment, and personal sanitation. Ensure proper setup of film, labels, and cheese; frequently inspect conveyor belts for smooth flow; grease and clean machines per preventative maintenance schedules. Monitor line speed, cheese feed, and product size tolerances using metric measurements and temperature controls. Make weight adjustments, review order specifications, and perform quality checks to ensure packaging aligns with customer requirements. Communicate daily production, safety, and quality issues to line personnel. Assist maintenance and supervision with repairs, updates, and special project information gathering. Train and motivate new operators. Perform any assigned tasks according to stated safety policies and Good Manufacturing Practices. Work in a fast-paced production environment with temperatures between 50-60 degrees F.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of machine operator experience or more
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and related equipment
- Ability to make minor decisions based on standard practices
- Ability to operate multiple pieces of packaging equipment
- Ability to read, prepare and comprehend production reports and worksheets
- Ability to communicate with line personnel regarding information contained therein, and regarding quality and safety issues
- Ability to set up and adjust packaging equipment using automatic computer controls
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve
- Ability to operate all production packaging equipment
- Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide
- Ability to work different shifts as requested
- Travels to other plants for special projects and training
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Excellent trouble shooting skills
- Experience in Microsoft Office
- SAP experience
- Ability to promote teamwork
- Basic computer skills
