Job Summary
1st Grade Teacher responsible for designing and implementing instruction aligned with district curriculum and state standards; foster a dynamic learning environment supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional development; integrate technology; assess and tailor instruction based on student progress; collaborate with special education to accommodate IEPs; supervise instructional aides and sponsor campus activities; maintain professional communication with parents and staff; ensure adherence to district policies and safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Master’s degree (preferred)
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned
- ESL certification (preferred) or ability to obtain ESL certification within one year of hire
- One (1) year of clinical teaching (preferred)
- One (1) year of full-time teaching experience may be substituted for clinical teaching experience
- Knowledge of subject(s) assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiating instruction based upon student learning styles
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and accountability in all interactions and responsibilities
- Advanced organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Instructional Strategies
- Deliver engaging instruction aligned with district curriculum
- Assess student learning styles and tailor instructional activities
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula and provide accommodations for students with IEPs
- Lead and participate in extracurricular activities as assigned
- Serve as a positive role model for students
- Establish and maintain a classroom environment that supports student learning
- Manage student behavior effectively
- Ensure safety and security of students and materials
- Assist in selecting instructional materials
- Organize and maintain a system for record-keeping, grading, and reporting
- Enforce school rules and policies
- Communicate effectively with parents, students, colleagues, and community members
- Engage in staff development and adhere to regulations
- Participate in faculty meetings and committees
- Adhere to district policies and safety procedures
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Direct the work of instructional aides
