1st Class Marine Electricians - PC03

Plans layouts, installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, equipment, and control equipment on marine vessels and shipyard buildings in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Work with other crafts as instructed by supervision. Inspects systems and electrical parts to detect hazards, defects, and need for adjustments or repair. Tests internal circuits of major units of electrical equipment for continuity, short circuits, and grounds and measure electrical quantities. Troubleshoots electrical equipment and circuits using appropriate test equipment to detect and affect required maintenance, repairs, or replacement requirements. Maintain and repair electrical power generating and distribution systems; voltage regulators engine governors, and equipment; machinery monitoring and remote-control systems; power, control and display systems of shipboard equipment and DC propulsion generators, motors, and control circuits. Housing assistance is available. Three to five years experience in electrical and electro-mechanical systems maintenance and repair preferably with two or more years on marine electrical system desired.
