Job Summary
Probation Service Officer role managing a caseload of offenders before and after sentence, including assessment, sentence implementation, offender management, and reporting. Responsibilities include risk assessment, providing information to courts, and collaboration with agencies throughout the justice system; focus on supporting offenders with practical housing and employment advice and empathetic, patient, and resilient engagement. Requires strong writing skills and the ability to produce clear, accurate reports under deadlines. Hybrid working arrangements in the UK; roles may be based at multiple locations within the Probation Service region, with allocations by business need and merit, and potential base locations including office/court/prison sites. New entrants start at the minimum of the advertised pay band with annual progression through a competency-based framework; candidates must have the right to live/work in the UK. Some roles may require apprenticeship components and visits across various MoJ sites; attendance at Civil Service Judgement Test (CSJT) and other standard processes apply.
