Job Summary
Data Scientist at Sigma Defense Systems in San Diego, CA. Collects and analyzes statistics and information from multiple sources to spot trends and provide insights to leadership; strategizes data collection opportunities; communicates data findings to business and IT leaders to influence decisions; designs, modifies, and builds data processes and large-scale data sets; conducts statistical modeling and experiment design, and tests/validates predictive models; builds web prototypes and data visualizations; conducts scalable data research on and off the cloud; develops customized algorithms for analytical problems with incomplete data; collaborates with database engineers and scientists to develop analytics procedures and best practices; implements new or enhanced software to access and handle data more efficiently; trains the data management team on procedures; writes and implements quality procedures.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience developing, analyzing, or deploying data-driven solutions
- Experience with data analysis, visualization, or decision support tools
- Experience with Python or similar programming languages
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- 5+ years of experience with machine learning or AI enabled systems
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, or related field of study
- Experience with natural language processing or large language models
- Experience deploying applications in operational environments (afloat/ashore)
- Experience with containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
- Experience supporting cybersecurity considerations in software development
- Experience working with DOW or NAVAIR program office
- Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain an active Top Secret security clearance or higher
