Job Summary
Employment Counsellor works with a diverse range of individuals to assist them in securing employment or community attachment; conducts formal needs assessments via structured interviews to identify issues, develops personalized plans utilizing WorkBC services, makes referrals to community resources, monitors client progress and outcomes, revises action plans to enhance self-sufficiency, ensures timely employment or community attachment, determines client needs and eligibility for financial supports, completes documentation and reports, manages budgeted activities, tracks billing milestones and employment sustainment targets, captures client data, writes progress notes and success stories, and works at multiple WorkBC Centres in the Greater Vancouver Area.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services and/or Education; or combination of training and professional experience in supporting individuals with disabilities and complex barriers
- CCDP an asset
- Motivational Interviewing training or similar training will be considered as an asset
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training an asset
- Mental Health First Aid training an asset
- Trauma-Informed Practice training an asset
- Experience in career development
- Experience in employment counselling and work placement
- Experience in WorkBC programs an asset
- Experience conducting need assessments and developing action plans
- Experience in managing client data and documenting the counselling process
- Knowledge of career counselling, cross-cultural counselling and job development
- Knowledge of the local labour market
- Criminal Record Check required
