Job Summary
The Family & Youth Counsellor provides counselling to individuals and families on issues such as immigration adjustment, marital, inter-generational, social and emotional issues and trauma; delivers family life education and parenting workshops; liaises with schools, government institutions and voluntary agencies to provide integrative support; conducts intake for callers/drop-ins; performs assessment, intervention, and evaluation; maintains client records; presents case scenarios at team meetings; delivers workshops; ensures services meet accreditation standards; collaborates with other divisions/offices; and maintains records for accountability and program development. Requires a Master’s degree and Registered Clinical Counsellor membership, with strong communication, interpersonal, program planning, and language skills (additional language assets may be noted), and flexibility to work weekends/evenings.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counselling, Social Work, or Clinical Psychology
- Registered Clinical Counsellor membership
- At least three (3) years of counselling work experience (preferable)
- Experience in conflict resolution and case management
- Experience in facilitating groups
- Knowledge on case planning and case management principles and techniques
