Job Summary
Data Center Technician L1 responsible for maintaining operational integrity of the data center's electrical, mechanical, and fire life safety systems. Ensures uptime and regulatory compliance, monitors abnormal conditions, coordinates with contractors, and implements preventive/predictive maintenance while evaluating efficiency and cost-reduction opportunities. Reads blueprints and diagrams, tests electromechanical assemblies, handles installation and troubleshooting of HVAC (CRAC/CRAH, chilled water, humidification), electrical distribution (UPS, generators, switchgear, PDU), fire life safety systems (wet/pre-action sprinklers, detectors), and supports building monitoring and control through BMS/PLC controls. Requires collaboration with CF Ops Lead Technician, strong safety mindset (lockout/tagout, OSHA practices), and the ability to work on-site in a high-stress, fast-paced environment with occasional after-hours scheduling.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Associate degree or equivalent education/work experience (preferred/required by role)
- CPR/First Aid and NFPA70E certification during employment (per L1/L2 requirements)
- OSHA forklift certification or ability to obtain after hire
- Ability to work onsite and comply with shift requirements (nights/holidays/weekends)
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA standards and building codes relevant to fire life safety
- Experience with installed mechanical/electrical critical facilities (data center/hospital/power plant)
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical orders
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
