Job Summary
Land-Based Learning Program Coordinator (Contract, 24 months) leads and guides Land Based Helpers to design, develop, and deliver culturally grounded land- and water-based activities in alignment with Rotinonhsyon:ni knowledge and practices. The role collaborates with Cultural Advisors and the Team Manager to build community partnerships, plan cultural workshops and activities, support trauma-informed and holistic wellness approaches, and ensure programming remains respectful of Rotinonhsyon:ni culture. Responsibilities include staff onboarding and training, participant-centered support for skill development and cultural connection, coordination of seasonal activities, and representation at community events while upholding organizational policies. The position requires leadership in program development, travel with valid driver’s license, and a strong emphasis on safety, confidentiality, and respectful engagement with individuals and families.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated Knowledge of Rotinonhsyon:ni culture and concepts of wellness
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainable land and water based activities that respect culture and practices
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with previous experience in a Program Coordinator or similar leadership role, preferably within an Indigenous community
- Willingness to incorporate trauma informed and holistic wellness approaches into programming
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel
- Boat license, ORCKA or Paddle Canada certification; or willingness to obtain
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid, CPR and ASIST Certification or willingness to obtain
- Clean and current vulnerable sector police check
- High School Diploma with three (3) years’ demonstrated skills in land and water based activities OR a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience undertaking land and water based activities which include, but not limited to; hunting, fishing, canoeing, building structure, preservation of land and its natural resources, gardening, tree & plant identification
