Job Summary
Assistant Principal – High School (10 months) supports the principal in instructional supervision, staff evaluation, program development, and school operations. Leads in planning and coordinating the building’s instructional program, oversees student attendance and credit attainment, supervises and evaluates staff, assists in budgeting and committee coordination, and ensures safety and compliance through mandated trainings and reporting. Requires a Master’s degree in Education (or higher), NJ Principal Certificate, and at least 5 years of teaching/leadership experience; strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills; ability to work within an administrative team and manage multiple responsibilities including safety, discipline, and program planning.
Required Qualifications
- Masters or Doctoral Degree in Education
- NJ Principal Certificate (CE, provisional or standard)
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience
- Elementary experience and/or experience as a Vice Principal, teacher coach, Lead Teacher, or similar educational leadership experience preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective principles of teaching and learning
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills with demonstrated initiative, leadership and business ethics and a demonstrated ability to motivate others
- Ability to work as a highly functional member of an administrative team
- Pass mandatory pre-employment physical, including drug screening in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4
- Pass mandatory criminal history screening in accordance with 18A:6-7.1
- Consistent attendance as defined by the New Jersey Department of Education
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google and general computer skills
