Job Summary
The MRI Technologist operates a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. Prepares and administers contrast media per hospital policy and regulatory requirements; obtains patient history and screening forms, explains procedures, and addresses patient concerns. Maintains patient records, performs quality assurance on the MRI scanner, and supports departmental safety and compliance programs. Participates in QA programs to ensure safety and patient satisfaction; utilizes PPE and adheres to HIPAA. Requires ongoing professional development and licensure maintenance; completes required educational modules and complies with all policies and standards. Travel and scheduling details are managed through the UofL Health system portal (Workday/Job Hub).
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of MR Radiologic Technology (required)
- Valid Kentucky Radiation Operator’s License (strongly preferred)
- Possess and maintain certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Possess and maintain certification by ARRT in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) within 2 years
- Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of employment (required)
- Experience in MRI (preferred)
