Job Summary
Provide individualized 1:1 academic coaching and tutoring for general introductory college courses, assisting with reading comprehension, foundational essay writing, organization, and assignment planning. Implement strategies to build executive functioning skills, including time management, note-taking, and task initiation, while adapting methods to support learners with mental health challenges or disabilities. Help the student navigate college course portals and syllabus requirements, fostering autonomy within a calm, empathetic, and structured dynamic. Schedule includes 2 to 3 sessions per week (1.5 to 2 hours) at City College of San Francisco, with availability on Mondays through Fridays. Compensation ranges from $45 to $50 per hour, supplemented by performance-based incentives.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience working with adult learners in a tutoring, educational, or academic coaching capacity
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or mental health conditions
- Strong background in supporting introductory college-level writing, reading, and general coursework
- Patient, empathetic, highly structured, and skilled at de-escalating academic anxiety
- Excellent organizational skills
- Familiarity with higher education routines
- Open to an in-person schedule at the CCSF campus matching the requested times
