Job Summary
Speech-Language Pathologist providing itinerant speech and language therapy to students at Lost Creek Elementary and other assigned sites. Establish a therapy program within the assigned region, conduct screenings, diagnostic evaluations, and select students for enrollment in therapy. Deliver individual and group therapy, plan a master schedule with school staff, and coordinate with parents and teachers. Utilize a variety of therapeutic materials and AAC devices, translate speech-language objectives into effective therapy sessions, and adapt to individual learning styles. Maintain records, monitor progress, and provide referrals to district specialists when necessary. Support for Medicaid provider status and ongoing professional growth through workshops and courses.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a valid West Virginia Certificate in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Licensed by West Virginia Board of Examiners for SLPS.
- Demonstrate a strong academic background.
- Exhibit knowledge and/or experience with speech and language disorders.
- Demonstrate ability to translate speech and language objectives into therapy sessions.
- Exhibit proficiency in planning sessions to meet individual needs of students.
- Demonstrate expertise in use of diagnostic instruments for speech and language
- Understand and interpret test data to improve student communication skills.
- Demonstrate knowledge of audiological evaluation and hearing aid monitoring procedures.
- Experience working with students requiring speech and language therapy or remediation.
- Demonstrate ability to create stimulating and motivating therapy environments.
- Demonstrate writing and speaking skills.
- Any combination of training and experience leading to successful employment as a speech/language pathologist.
- Follows policies and maintains records as required.
