Job Summary
1.0 Probationary Special Education Teacher at Buffalo, NY schools. Provide Special Education instruction to students with developmental delays and/or multiple disabilities, including Resource Room and academic support. Develop and monitor IEPs, Behavioral Intervention Plans, coordinate related services, collaborate with general education staff, communicate with families, and participate in school activities. Requires NYS Special Education (K-12) certification, knowledge of NYS/FERPA mandates, experience with data-driven instruction, and ability to work in a collaborative team to support students with disabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a valid NYS Certification in Special Education (K-12).
- Possess experience in Special Education (preference of at least 3 years).
- Possess knowledge of Federal and State Mandates pertaining to students with disabilities.
- Possess demonstrated skill in Functional Behavioral Assessment and development of Behavioral Intervention Plans.
- Possess well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- Possess an ability to work effectively as a member of a collaborative team.
- Possess demonstrated experience in differentiated instruction and applying research-based instructional approaches when teaching students with disabilities.
- Possess skill at interpreting and analyzing student data to adapt and modify curriculum to meet NYS standards.
- Possess knowledge of resources to assess and monitor daily performance of students with disabilities.
- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include Special Education instruction, coordination with related services, development of IEPs, and collaboration with staff and families.
